Since the publication of my book, Free-Range Learning in the Digital Age: The Emerging Revolution in College, Career, and Education, in mid, and after a year of listening, learning and reflecting, I would like to explore and look at the future of learning and work with refreshed eyes and new understandings.I am writing not as a critic but as a friend and longtime observer of higher. This book will be organized into two distinct sections. The first section, comprised of chapters that examine educational opportunity in rural districts from a micro‐level perspective, is devoted to chapters that broadly examine the implications of state and federal policy on educational opportunity in rural schools and districts.
Despite the rhetoric of American equality, the school experiences of African-American and other “minority” students in the United States continue to be substantially separate and unequal.
